Dennis “FingerRoll” Nelson — a soulful Latin jazz guitarist with a smooth touch and a story to tell born in the deep south of Mobile, Alabama. Dennis began his musical journey at Williamson High School and Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, where he recieved a B.A. in Jazz Studies. 3 weeks after graduation from Baton Rouge to Queens, New York he would join up with Tom Browne on his Jamaica Funk Tour. His extraordinary talent soon took him on the road with legends like Ray Charles, Peabo Bryson, The Temptations and Otis Day and The Knights, featured in the classic movie Animal House. As a producer and songwriter, Dennis worked with The Temptations on their Grammy Award–winning Ear-Resistible album. He earned Gold and Platinum credits for his songwriting on Robert Palmer’s hit album Riptide. His signature “Finger Roll” guitar style — smooth, fluid, and deeply expressive — fuses jazz, fusion, soul, and rock into one unmistakable sound. . His music has been featured in films such as Deep Impact, Sabrina The Teenage Witch, The Bedroom Window and Lambada Set The Night On Fire. And Tv shows like Girlfriends with Tracey Ross and Roc with Charles Dutton. Beyond the stage, Dennis is also a filmmaker, director, actor, and cinematographer — a true creative force with rhythm running through every frame and every note.
