A proud music graduate of Southern University in Baton Rouge, he honed his craft under the mentorship of the legendary Alvin Batiste. Mere weeks after receiving his diploma, Nelson embarked on a life-changing experience – a lengthy tour with jazz virtuoso Tom Browne's Jamaica Funk Tour.
This ignited a career that would see him collaborate with music royalty. Ray Charles, Otis Day and The Knights from Animal House, The Temptations – Nelson's talent resonated with the best in the business. His production and songwriting prowess graced The Temptations' Grammy-winning album "Earresistible," a testament to his innate ability to craft timeless hits.
Nelson's soulful guitar work graced Hidden Beach's acclaimed "Unwrapped" series (Volumes 2-6), captivating audiences as a featured guest artist. His songwriting magic extended to the rock world, where he contributed to the late Robert Palmer's iconic album "Riptide," earning both platinum and gold accolades.
